A TRUE STORY OF THE THREE RULING HOUSES IN IFON THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN A SERIOUS CONTEST AND LEGAL TUSSLE FOR THE OLUFON VACANT STOOL.
Three of the seven ruling houses in Ifon, namely; Erunogbe, Umaugba and Ogenuwa are contesting for the Olufon vacant stool. 
The resolution of the present logjam and stalemate requires the adoption of a holistic approach that is based on equity, fairness and justice.
We can begin with some  critical examinations of  some  historical facts relating to these three ruling houses that have shifted their battle to the court of law so as to know how they had fared in the rulership of Ifon town from 1854 till date.

ERUNOGBE RULING HOUSE.
 From available historical facts.
1. Oba Erunogbe reigned between 1854 to 1887 ( 33 years )
2 . Oba Ogwadogbon reigned between 1891 to 1896 ( 5 years)
3. Oba Mabo 1 reigned between 1900 to 1913 ( 13 years )
4. Oba Agun reigned between 1913 to 1925  ( 12 years )
5. Oba Isijola reigned between 1925 to 1931 ( 6 years ).
6. Oba Oyinbomakinwa Mabo 11 reigned between 1935 to 1963 ( 28 years )
Number of Kings produced by Erunogbe ruling house from 1854 till date = 6 (six)
Total number of years spent on the throne by all the Kings from Erunogbe ruling house at various interval = 97 years.
When was the last time we had an Oba from  Erunogbe ruling house? 
 Answer = 1963 
How long now ?
Answer = 60 years ago.

UMAUGBA RULING HOUSE.

1. Oba David Adegbera Odogiyon reigned between 1969 to 1996 ( 27 years ).
Number of Kings  produced by  Umaugba ruling house from 1854 till date = 1 (one)
Total number of years spent on the throne by the  King from  Umaugba ruling house = 27 years.
When was the last time we had an Oba from  Umaugba ruling house?
Answer = 1996.
How long now ?
Answer = 
 27 years ago.

OGENUWA RULING HOUSE.

1. Oba Ogenuwa reigned between 1896 to 1900.
Number of Kings  produced by  Ogenuwa ruling house from 1854 till date = 1 (one).
Total number of years spent on the throne by the King from Ogenuwa ruling house = 4 years.
When was the last time we had an Oba from Ogenuwa ruling house?
Answer = 1900.
How long now ?
Answer = 123 years ago.

The Olufon chieftaincy declaration that was registered during an interregnum in March, 1968, recognizes seven ruling houses in Ifon with fourteen kingmakers. It listed the Erunogbe ruling house next to the Adaniken ruling house in the rotational order. 
The Ondo state government  approved Morgan chiefaincy declaration of 1981 which came to life during the reign of Oba Adegbera Odogiyon,  recognizes four ruling houses in Ifon with twelve kingmakers. It listed the Ogenuwa ruling house next to the Adaniken ruling house in the rotational order. Despite the issuance of the Ondo state government white paper on the acceptance and approval of the Morgan chieftaincy declaration since 1981, it has not been registered since then. 
Surprisingly, the Ondo state government seems not to be giving consideration to the Erunogbe and Ogenuwa ruling houses at all with the directives issued to the Umaugba ruling house to present its candidate/candidates for the stool. The same Umaugba ruling house that was succeeded  by Oba Adegoke Adeusi of Adaniken ruling house in 1997.
Erunogbe ruling house is legally backed by the 1968 registered chieftaincy declaration to succeed Adaniken ruling house. 
Ogenuwa ruling house is legally backed by the 1981 Morgan chiefaincy declaration to succeed Adaniken ruling house. 
Umaugba ruling house is merely enjoying the backing of the Ondo state government with the strange introduction of the rotational order  readjustment plan.
The Igebome, Okonren, Odugeri and Adaniken ruling houses are recognized ruling houses in Ifon that are not in the race for now for obvious reasons. 
From the above analysis, which of these three ruling houses ( Erunogbe, Umaugba and Ogenuwa) is worthy of our consideration for the Olufon throne at this period?
